Runic Blade

Who this is for: Melee players who want a clear positional checklist.

Fictional melee that alternates rune faces for positional windows.

Runic Blade overview
Placeholder art for Runic Blade, a fictional melee dps.

Quick reference

  • Role: Melee DPS.

  • Primary gauge: Rune Face. Spend it before it caps; overcap wastes a full combo's worth of damage.

  • Keep your self-buff uptime above 90% on bosses that stay targetable.

  • Use your party utility on predictable raidwides, not on the first auto-attack.

Basics

Runic Blade is an invented job used to prototype job-guide layout. Play it like a mid-level melee dps: establish your rotation, spend Rune Face on cooldown once the fight is stable, and save one defensive for the scripted tank buster or raidwide your static calls out.

Single-target priority:

  1. Maintain your damage buff.

  2. Spend Rune Face at three or more stacks.

  3. Weave oGCDs after weaponskills so you never clip the GCD.

  4. Use AoE only when three or more targets will live for a full combo.

Advanced

  • If the boss turns for a cleave, finish the current GCD, then slide to the new rear.

  • Do not flip Rune Face early to chase a parse; the mid-level clear loop wants the two-minute align.

  • Use your personal mit on shared tank busters when the offtank is weak.

Opener

Default comfortable opener for dummy pulls and early progression:

  1. True north on pull, then rear positional opener.

  2. Flip Rune Face after the third weaponskill.

  3. Spend the spenders inside the party burst window.

  4. Hold the disengage only for knockbacks you cannot shrug.

Gear priorities

Placeholder BiS order for this invented job: Weapon damage, then primary strength or mind stat, then critical hit, then determination, then skill or spell speed until your GCD aligns with the party two-minute windows.

If two pieces are equal on damage, favour the piece with more determination for stable clears.
